About my Music career:
GIF DA VET GIF DA VET (Hip Hop and RnB Rapper/Songwriter/Music producer) GIF DA VET is an exceptional talent from the mean streets of S.E. Washington DC. Hailing from the metropolitan area, he had no other choice but to become a fan of Go-Go music, the city's most popular genre. He grew up listening to the likes of Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers, Rare Essence, E.U., Trouble Funk, Lil Benny & The Masters and The Junkyard Band. Being born into a musical family, his mother was a singer for various bands throughout DC and Maryland. At 15 he would go on to cut his first 12 inch record entitled "Reality" under her bandleader Jimmy Bennett. By 16, during a practice session he met her band member Demetrius "Demi" McGhee a young 15 yr old talented keyboardist who would later date his sister. In 1995 he recorded his first solo single and video "How 2.B.A.Crook" an ode to the street life and its downfalls on Fast Money Records. During this time Demi was going by the name Demi-Doc and was playing keyboards for the world renowned Junkyard Band. It was around this time when the drummer of the band Chink Santana's rap demo reached music executive Irv Gotti who signed him to Murda Inc Records as an in-house producer who also brought Demi along who was also eventually signed with the label as a producer. Soon after Demi signed GIF to his Electric Sky Productions where he would accompany him with music production. In 97" he released his debut Ep "Live Your Life" on Rugged Soul Records which receive stellar reviews in the underground circuit a nod from the Juice Crew's Master Ace solidified it for him. He followed up the EP with the LP'S "The Total Package", Da Pawnshop followed another EP "Music For Me". His Hip Hop influences include Kool G Rap, KRS One, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane and LL. Cool J. He is currently still creating music as well as managing artists on his own imprint Eat Food Music.
